A Steadfast Resource Amidst Change
“Change is the only constant in life.” However, it’s reassuring that some things remain constant. Regardless of your location or when you need support, the Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center (MiPDC) call center staff are always available to assist you when you call the Poison Helpline at 1-800-222-1222.
So, what has and will change? Our approach to public education outreach has exciting new advancements on the horizon.
With the recent addition of Joe Bowles as our Marketing Project Manager and Multimedia Specialist, we’ve implemented updates to our website and social media platforms. If you haven't already explored our site, make sure to visit www.mipoisonhelp.org to experience the new layout and discover the resources we provide. You can also find links to our social media channels at the bottom of the page. For those familiar with our Educators and Caregivers section, links to contact the Poison Center Educator are also available there.
As the Poison Center Educator, I participate in numerous outreach events throughout the year. If you’ve seen us at our booth or table during these events, you know we prioritize active engagement. I gain invaluable insights from conversations with fellow professionals and program participants as they learn from us. A recurring sentiment I often hear is, “What you do is so important.” However, reaching communities further away from our base in Detroit to deliver our messages becomes increasingly challenging.
Distance should never hinder our mission to provide poison prevention education. We are dedicated to delivering essential services across all areas of Michigan. Therefore, my efforts are focused on developing new programming that will soon be available on the Educators and Caregivers page at poison.med.wayne.edu/educators-caregivers. Although my availability for outreach events on weekdays is limited, feel free to contact the education office at (313) 887-0287 for questions or requests.
